November Resource Sneak Peak

Building a Program Identity with Coach Joel Hueser

On Saturday, Nov. 1st the next FREE2COMPETE resource will hit your inbox and it will feature a guest author, so I want to take a moment to introduce him so your time on Saturday can be focused on what he has to share and not an introduction.

Do you have somebody in your life that you wish you could spend more time with? Coach Joel Hueser, the head boys basketball coach at Papillion La Vista South High School, is one of those people for me. Whenever I get to spend time with him I always leave wanting more. I appreciate our conversations about faith, Jesus, coaching, sports, life, and more. Iron sharpens Iron and he makes me a better person.

A few months ago I asked Coach Hueser if he would ever be interested in writing a resource for the FREE2COMPETE newsletter. In a very short period of time he knocked out a banger of an article that you will get to read on Saturday “Play Smart, Hard, & Together: Building a Program Identity.” I’ve been able to preview it and I can’t wait for you to read it. It is filled with actionable items and I’m confident it will make you think about how you are intentionally building the culture of your team!

If you already know Coach Hueser, you know you are in for a treat. If not, watch a couple of short interviews from last year’s state basketball tournament so you can get a small sense of WHO he is before his resource hits your inbox.

Check out this clip featuring Bryson Bahl, one of the senior leaders on the Southside Basketball’s 2025 State Championship winning team. This short clip will include a few nuggets about the culture you’ll get to read about on Saturday.
